A few weeks ago, Fury’s co-promoter, Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions, stamped down a record bid of $41 million to secure the promotional rights to the fight.

Fury will receive the lion’s share of the money, with the WBC ordering an 80-20 split in the champion’s favor.

Whyte has been out of the ring since March of 2021, when he stopped Alexander Povetkin in their rematch. He was then scheduled to fight in fall against Otto Wallin, but later withdrew with a shoulder injury.
