Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have had many intense battles over the years, both at slams and on other Masters tournaments as well. Despite their battles at the French Open being mostly one-sided with Nadal taking the charge, Federer managed to put up stiff competition as and when possible.
One such matches where the Swiss Maestro gave a tough fight to the Spaniard was at the 2011 French Open.
After losing a tightly contested first two sets, Federer fought back emphatically to win the third before Nadal ended up with the fourth set and also his sixth French Open crown.
Throwback to the moment when Serena Williams commented on Rafael Nadal’s butt
Amidst all the banter on Twitter during this Federer-Nadal match, one esteemed tennis star seemed to have her own share of fun watching that battle. American tennis star Serena Williams went on a tweeting spree talking about Nadal’s butt.
“Nadal has a big booty… 🙂 lol”, wrote Serena.
The 23-time major champion came up with another tweet on the Spaniard.
“Wow Nadal and his booty is killing it! he’s amazing”.
The American further wrote, “Me and Nadal are Booty siblings! We see cheek to cheek”.
While there is no response from Nadal over Serena’s appreciation tweets towards him, the light-heartedness of the American during an intense final between two of the game’s greats will be remembered.
Serena pulls out of the 2022 Australian Open
Looking at Serena’s tennis season this year, she made it to the Australian Open semi-finals, where she lost to Naomi Osaka. Post the ‘happy slam’, the American struggled to maintain the winning momentum and couldn’t perform to her expectations on the European clay-court swing.
At SW19 where Serena’s hopes were high, she had to retire during her first-round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich after an unfortunate slip on Center court. Since then, Serena wasn’t seen on a tennis court.
After pulling out from this year’s US Open, fans were hoping to catch the American playing the Australian Open next year. But, she released a statement few days ago stating her decision to pull out of the grand slam event.
At the moment, it’s unclear when Serena Williams will make a comeback on the WTA tour next year.
