Rafael Nadal suffered an unfortunate foot injury in 2021, which forced him to end his season after Washington Open. The 20-time Grand Slam champion played his last professional tennis match in August. Just recently, the Spaniard gave some optimistic news about his comeback. However, Nadal is wary that it’s going to be a complicated process.

The 13-time French Open champion has confirmed his participation at the Australian Open 2022, starting from 17th January next year. Furthermore, the tournament director has decided to allow a 100% crowd at Melbourne Park.

It’s been three months since we last witnessed the Maestro Rafael Nadal in action. The Spaniard is currently rehabilitating from his persistent foot injury. In a recent interview, Nadal discussed the complicated process of making a comeback at the age of 35.

 

 

Talking about his future goal, Rafael Nadal said, “My goal right now is to prepare myself in the best possible way in every way for when I am ready to arrive and be able to be competitive.”

However, the former World No. 1 is aware of the complex process. He added, ” I know it is going to be a complicated process because they are many months but I am with the utmost enthusiasm and that is what has to lead me to have options next year.” Despite his foot injury, Nadal seems to be enthusiastic about his return to the tennis court.

Nadal is currently tied at 20 Grand Slam titles with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. With Federer pulling out of ‘Happy Slam’, and Djokovic still uncertain about his participation, Rafael Nadal has a golden opportunity to lift his 21st Grand Slam title at the Australian Open 2022.
