The devastated 35-year-old took to social media to share a picture of his pal after learning of his death.Tony, who worked as the World Champion’s security detail in Brazil for 14 years, died in a car crash.
Lewis penned a heartfelt tribute to Tony, who he described as “like family,” in a lengthy Instagram post .Alongside a picture of the pair, which he shared with his 15 million followers, he wrote: “I am devastated to hear the news. This is my friend Tony.”
Sharing further details, he added: “He was my security in Brazil for the past 14 years. Love this guy, was like family.
“He died in a car crash recently.”The British racing driver went one to say: “I am forever grateful to have known him. Prayers to his family.”He continued: “Life is so precious people, one minute we are here and the next minute we’re gone.”So live in the moment, maximise the time you have because tomorrow is not promised.”
Lewis signed off: “Rest in peace brother.”
