Despite Long Absence From Tennis, Roger Federer claims Back His ‘Usual’ Award

 

Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer is one of the most famous sporting personalities in the world. Federer’s dominance and popularity has taken the sport to a wider audience across the world. Amongst the players active on the Tour, the 40-year-old is the most famous and loved by fans.

Recently, to cement his position as the most loved, Roger Federer has won the ATP Fan Favorite Award 2021. After securing the award this season, the 20-time Grand Slam winner has won this honor for a record 19th consecutive year.

 

Roger Federer did not feature for most of 2021
The Swiss maestro has barely competed in tournaments this season. Despite that, he has managed to win this award which is an astonishing fact. Federer competed at the French Open and then at the Wimbledon Championships as his only two Grand Slam appearances this year.

He did compete in warm-up events prior to the build-up of the Grand Slam appearances. He played in Geneva prior to the French Open and in Halle before the appearance at the All England Club.

 

 

After the Wimbledon Championships, he revealed that he would be requiring another knee surgery, which would keep him out of action for many months. He recently revealed that the Australian Open is not an option for him in the coming season. The 8-time champion also cast doubts if he would be able to be fit in time to make it at the All England Club.
