Bjorn Borg gives his honest thoughts on Novak Djokovic’s vaccine stance and future

Former world No. 1 Bjorn Borg says the best thing for tennis is to have Novak Djokovic playing in all major tournaments. Djokovic hasn’t been vaccinated against COVID-19 as he is sticking to his principles and beliefs. Djokovic has made it clear that he is willing to skip tournaments that require players to be fully vaccinated.

“I don’t know what will happen, but the best thing for tennis is for him to play. He is one of the top three with Nadal and Federer. He has to be part of the important tournaments and play them. He has a lot of tennis to offer and many more big tournaments to win.

I just hope you make the right decision,” Borg told Marca, per Sportskeeda.

Borg hopes to see Djokovic at the Laver Cup
The Laver Cup held its inaugural edition in 2017 but no editions have featured world No. 1 Djokovic.

Borg, who has been Team Europe captain in all editions, would love to see Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer all together at the Laver Cup. “Of course my wish is to bring together the three best in the history of tennis.

It would be something incredible, but I don’t know if it will happen,” Borg said. Federer and Nadal have confirmed their participation at this year’s Laver Cup and they plan to play doubles together. “I am very happy to bring them back together,” Borg said.

“Seeing them play doubles again will be unforgettable. I am proud to be part of the Laver Cup and to be the captain of the European team.” Federer is looking forward to this year’s Laver Cup. “Rafa is an incredible person and an inspiration to me and countless others around the world.

He messaged me on social media after the Laver Cup in Boston last year suggesting we play doubles in London,” Federer said. “I am definitely up for a Laver Cup ‘Fedal’ comeback!”
